The Douglas XB-42 Mixmaster experimental aircraft was designed with two engines in the fuselage driving a pair of contra-rotating propellers mounted at the rear in a pusher configuration. Two prototypes were built, before the project was cancelled. (U.S. Air Force Photographs.)

A P-40N Warhawk Air Force Heritage aircraft on the flight line at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base, Ariz., during the Heritage Flight Training Course (HFTC) March 1, 2014. Additional aircraft participating in the HFTC were the P-51 Mustang, the P-38 Lightning, the P-47 Thunderbolt and the F-86 Sabre. Air Combat Command aircraft include the F-22 Raptor, A-10 Thunderbolt II and the F-16C Fighting Falcon.
