Maj. Gen. Carlos Brewer (1890-1976)
September 1942 - August 1944. Gen. Brewer commanded the 12th Armored from its activation at Camp Campbell in 1942. Gen. Brewer had formerly served with the 9th Infantry Division and the 6th Armored Division. Gen. Brewer retired in 1950. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Maj. Gen. Douglass T. Greene
August 1944 - September 1944. Gen. Greene had formerly served with the 16th Armored Division.
Maj. Gen. Roderick R. Allen (1894-1970)
September 1944 - July 1945. Gen. Allen had formerly served with the 20th Armored Division. He later commanded the 1st Armored Division and the 3rd Armored Division after WWII. Gen. Allen is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
Brig. Gen. Willard A. Holbrook, Jr.
July 1945 - Inactivation. Gen. Holbrook was formerly commander of CC A of the 11th Armored Division.
